THERE ARE COUNTLESS WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

It takes an army of volunteers, donors and community supporters to ensure that Family Promise is able to continue to help the families that need our help.

A few key ways to help include:

  • Become a host or support congregation. We are always looking for additional faith communities to join our network.
  • Volunteer. You can volunteer with one of our host or support congregations or contact us directly and we will get you connected with a great volunteer opportunity.
  • Donate. Whether you are able to give $5 or $500, every dollar makes a difference and will be put to good use at Family Promise.
  • Attend an Event. We offer several events throughout the year for the community to enjoy while supporting Family Promise.

HOST & SUPPORT CONGREGATIONS

Any faith community from any religion can become a host! All that is needed is space, willing volunteers, a plan, perseverance and passion. Most important is an understanding of the vital role that flexibility plays in how we help people, a belief in our mission and the need for it in our community.

Faith communities will be partnering with one another to form an interfaith homeless network. Host communities will provide shelter and nutritious meals for our families for one week every three months. Each faith community may host up to four families at a time, but never more than 14 individuals.

If your faith community is interested in supporting another congregation by providing meals and volunteers or if your congregation is interested in hosting families, please contact us.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the heart of Family Promise. Our dedicated volunteers help us provide shelter, meals and other assistance to homeless families for about one-third the cost of traditional shelters. Family Promise keeps families together and provides them with a safe, supportive and home-like environment.

But our volunteers do so much more. They become a personal support system to our homeless families. They share contacts for jobs and housing, help write resumes and prepare for job interviews, and donate clothing and furniture. These supportive relationships often continue after families leave the network. Because of the involvement and dedication of our volunteers, more than 80 percent of the families we have assisted have found permanent homes.

Family Promise provides an opportunity for compassionate people to make a difference in our community. We offer a wide range of volunteer activities to fit varying schedules and levels of commitment. Our program allows families to volunteer together, from grandparents to young children. If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please contact us.
